Two year updates
Hi All,
It’s been a while since we shared an update - we’ve been busy! - but we thought the 2 year mark would be a good moment to reflect and share some of the things we’ve been up to. As we think about what year three will look like, here are a few thoughts on how we’re approaching our mission to connect people with work that matters along with some highlights of the impact we’ve made.
We help companies that are focused on solving real problems and building a better future.
The stakes are high for organizations solving important, complex problems. Too high to make the wrong hire, or to never learn the skills needed to build highly impactful teams. Beyond finding the right person for a role, we teach companies to do just that. We set them up with data backed, sustainable, equitable, and predictive talent acquisition practices to secure highly competitive and impactful talent.
In the past two years we’ve hired Co-Founders for companies before they’ve even incorporated their startup all the way through to hiring a CFO for a company starting IPO prep. The thread that unifies all of this work is connecting people to opportunities to solve problems they care deeply about, on a personal level.
We partner with organizations & leaders who want to build a better future of work.
At the core of every business is people. We believe people should be re-centered in the conversation about how work works, everything we’ve seen the last two years with the “great resignation” reinforces that belief. We help companies hire and retain the right people by optimizing our searches for motivational & cultural alignment in addition to searching for the skills and experience needed to do the job.
People who are able to fulfill their personal goals don’t need extra incentive to do the work, contribute solutions, or stick around. The companies we work with embrace the opportunity to throw out the old school playbook and focus on seeking out the value for their people. This approach continues to resonate in the market and helps companies set the stage for long-term success.
We redesign hiring to support other healthy business practices.
An organization’s talent acquisition strategy should both inform and be shaped by choices around work modalities, diversity and inclusion strategies, company core values, communication practices, retention tactics, and more. We love to help our clients connect the dots, consulting across a wide range of People and Talent topics. More holistic solutions help companies hone in on effective value propositions to attract the right people, and set them up to thrive.
We always start with research.
Unlike many recruiting agencies/consultants, we don’t limit our work to searches in a particular industry, stage, or skill set. That’s because we go way beyond our existing networks when it comes to connecting clients with the right talent.
Our research methods cast a wide net for every search because it would be limiting to believe we know the right person for every unique opportunity. Beyond brand names, we look for people who have succeeded in similar stages, industries, and environments. We identify where someone is ready and eager for a step up. We look for alignment beyond the obvious places.
To take Purpose Talent’s research ability to the next level, we’ll be kicking off a search for someone to lead talent market research on our team. This person will help us provide clients with nuanced insights on a wide range of talent, competitor analysis, compensation trends, retention tactics, and more. We’ll share details on this role soon, but don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re interested!
Our team is growing.
Finally, we’re excited to share that Russell Elliot has joined the team full-time as VP of Talent Strategy and Consulting. Russell brings experience owning full-lifecycle recruiting at all levels, shaping remote-first internal communications and culture, embedding diversity and inclusion practices, orienting employee experience towards fulfillment, and authoring company guiding principles. His work consulting and hiring across various industries is unified by excitement for companies who are trying to make the world a more equitable, interesting, efficient, or sustainable place.
That was a long update so we’ll cut things there. Feel free to reach out if we can be helpful in any way. Here’s to another year!
